About The Scheme
The pre-matric scholarship is given to minority students studying in classes 1 to 8 in government and aided schools in the state. The state government is implementing a new scheme called the 'Maargadeepam Scholarship' beginning in the financial year 2024-25. The scholarships will be given to the students from Ist to VIII th standard whose parent’s/Guardian’s income from all sources does not exceed Rs 2.5 lakh per annum. Scholarships will be disbursed as per the detailed guidelines issued by the Department.

1. Purpose:
To support education of students belonging to notified minority communities (Muslim, Christian (all sects), Sikh, Buddhist, Jain, Parsi) Studying in Class 1 to Class 8 in Government schools or Government aided schools in Kerala. In the financial year 2024–25, 121667 students received the scholarship. -
2. Eligible Classes:
Students Studying in government and government aided schools in Kerala. -
3. Scholarship Amount:
Rs. 1,500 per student -
4. Annual Income Limit:
Annual family income less than or equal to Rs. 2.5 lakh. -
5. Required Documents:
- Family Income Certificate issued by the Village Officer.
- Community Certificate or Minority Certificate issued by the Village Officer.
- Copy of Bank Passbook
- Disability Certificate (if applicable; disability ≥ 40%)
- Death certificate (if applicable, e.g., in case of the loss of a parent/both parents)
